leil: (FORM BLAZING SWORD)
Finally I got my computer back! Thank god! So I gave it a whirl using a few different applications, and it seems pretty stable. The performance isn't increased, but just par for where it was about when I bought it. I bought 3 gigs of RAM for get this.... $70! RAM prices have dropped so much on computers and man I'm glad. With 3GB of RAM I can do pretty much anything on my machine that is process intensive now without any kind of extreme worry.
I'm still very pissed off about my bandwidth though. As it stands right now Time Warner Cable is fucking me out of a lot of bandwidth. They are screwing us mainly with bittorrent traffic throttling. This means your bittorrent traffic (file sharing traffic) is "controlled" by them. In essence, this is bullshit. Its mainly b/c companies can't pull their heads out of their asses and realize that the world has passed them by, and the digital age is now in its Teen Years.
Rebellion is something that is coming in the form of copyright, patent, and trademark reform, and the world is trying to fight against it because it means every empire built on those facts will come crashing down. Some choose not to subscribe, and some choose to fight it with the RIAA or whatever fucked up legal tools at their disposal. At the end of the line though, companies will eventually get the short end of the stick as humanity will do what it wants.
Music, literature, and art have always been free. Only recently has humanity thought of imaginary property into reality. They call this "Intellectual Property" or in my words complete horse shit. I still do not think methods of making things, written works, trademarks, or even software code should be allowed to be called unique. People are influenced each day by things around them, and utilize a variety of educational tools to make new and better things, ideas, written works, and symbols.
Since this is the case, and it is my belief you owe your existence to those things around you, and your mental thought patterning as well, you should not be a glutton when it comes down to an idea. I do not care really how much it changes the world, or how much money you could make. Without the work of countless dozens, of millions, of billions of people you could not create what you created. Sum total: your creations are not ever entirely whole, original, or for that matter tangibly original. They are just manifestations, or recreations of present, or past ideas.
That being said, I'm a bit pissed off about the state of the planet on whole when it comes down to my internet connection. There are two camps of people on this planet. Those who are asleep at the wheel, and those who are awake and watching us drive ourselves into a dead end. Someone has to steer the ship, and at this point is most certainly the sleepers. I think everyone is pretty convinced that paying for something that is free is right and proper. I also think it is an illusion that people also believe that they can have a free and fair crack at making anything they want in the world. The truth of the matter is that many people have not tried at all, and if copyright, patents, and trademarks were all taken literally - our species would simply die.
I guess what I'm making a point of is this: because the world is stifling innovation, and creation, our world experience is suffering. My internet connection namely.
